A big boost for J&K BJP: Former PDP leader joins the party!

Feb-15, Former Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party leader Arshid Mehmood Khan joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (on Wednesday.

Mr. Khan, a three-time sarpanch from Nowshera’s Dandesar village. J&K chief Ravinder Raina, former deputy chief minister Kavinder Gupta, MP Jugal Kishore, and former minister Sat Sharma, welcomed Mr. khan into the Party. BJP general secretary Vibodh Gupta was also present.

The former PDP leader unsuccessfully contested the 2008 general elections from Nowshera constituency in Rajouri district. Speaking at a press conference after joining, Raina said that the BJP is ready for elections in the Union Territories.

“It is the prerogative of the Election Commission to announce elections in Jammu and Kashmir, but we are prepared for any election,” he said. “Fascinated by Prime Minister Modi’s welfare policies, he decided to serve society as an honest worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party,” Raina said.

“The government led by Prime Minister Modi is committed to public welfare. “This has ensured that the poor and destitute have access to public welfare schemes for their livelihood.” Raina said.

Raina was asked about speculations that some political leaders would join the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of the Prime Minister, and he said, “We warmly welcome whoever comes.”
