Big blow for Congress: Former Karnataka CM Jagadish Shetter returns to the BJP!
JAN-25, Former Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shetter, who joined the Congress ahead of last year’s state elections, has returned to the BJP.
Shetter, who belongs to the politically influential Lingayat community, quit the BJP last year after being denied a seat to contest the assembly election. He then joined Congress.
Shettar was an MLA six times. From 2012 until 2013, when he served as Chief Minister for 10 months.
Since entering politics in the 1980s, the Lingayat leader has held various positions within the Bharatiya Janata Party, including state president and leader of opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly.
He was also the Speaker of the Karnataka Congress in 2008, when the Bharatiya Janata Party formed its first government in Karnataka.
