Haryana CM Khattar resigns; BJP and JJP alliance is over!

March-12, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his ministers met Governor Bandaru Dattatreya at Chandigarh’s Raj Bhawan on Tuesday following the collapse of the BJP and JJP alliance and submitted their resignations.

On a day of rapid political developments, Mr. Khattar, accompanied by Health Minister Anil Vij and six independent MLAs, visited Dattatreya after chairing a meeting of the BJP parliamentary party at 11.30 am.

Preparations are underway for the swearing-in of a new group of ministers as soon as Deputy Prime Minister Dushyant Chautala formally announces the severance of ties and withdrawal from the coalition government.

The post-poll alliance was formed after the 2019 general elections, in which the Bharatiya Janata Party failed to secure a simple majority, winning 40 seats in the 90-member parliament and Dushyant’s Jannayak Janata Party winning 10 seats. It was supported by the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) to establish a government. The BJP later won more seats in the by-elections.
Both the BJP and JJP convened a legislative party meeting on Tuesday. The JJP meeting was held in New Delhi. The BJP leadership got in touch with six independent MLAs and assured them of support for the government after the alliance was dissolved.

While BJP sources said the new development on the alliance’s sustainability was a result of disagreements between the two alliances over seat allocation in the Lok Sabha elections,.
