Feb-21, Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal’s double century in the third Test of the five-match series against England in Rajkot, led to an unbeaten run of 214 and continued to rise in the ICC Test rankings for batsmen.
The 22-year-old left-hander joins a select group of seven cricketers, including two Indian players, Vinod Kambli and Virat Kohli, to score double centuries in back-to-back Tests. He moved up 14 places to 15th after contributing to India’s 434-run victory and leading the series 2-1.
Ravindra Jadeja’s first-inning knock of 112 moved him from 41st to 34th place among batsmen, and his seven-wicket haul helped him move up three places to sixth in the bowling rankings. Jadeja also increased his rating points from 416 to a career-high 469, cementing his place at the top of the all-rounder rankings.
Captain Rohit Sharma has moved up one place to 12th after scoring a century in the first innings, while Shubman Gill has moved up three places, to 35th. Debutants Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel were ranked 75th and 100th, respectively.
Despite missing part of the match to attend to a family emergency, Ravichandran Ashwin picked up a wicket in each innings and managed to overtake Kagiso Rabada to take him to the 2nd spot. Jasprit Burmah maintains the top spot with 876 points.
