March-26, The BJP on Tuesday attacked Congress spokesperson Supriya Srinate over a post on her Instagram handle against actor Kangana Ranaut. Kangana Ranaut will be competing in the upcoming parliamentary election on BJP ticket from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, in her hometown.
I read the post “Can anyone tell me what the current rate is in the mandi (market)?” It was taken next to Ranaut’s photo. Shrinate later revealed that “many people” had accessed her Facebook and Instagram accounts, from which someone made “highly inappropriate” posts that have since been deleted.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla said that Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s slogan “Ladki Hoon, Lado Sakti Hoon” (I am a girl I can fight) in the run up to the Uttra Pradesh assembly elections in 2022.
“Yesterday, Congress national spokesperson and Supriya Temple IT department head insulted ‘Nari Shakti’ (women’s power) through obscene posts. This is not just an insult to Kangana Ranaut or women, but to the entire state of Himachal Pradesh. The slogan of this party (Congress) is ‘Lad ki hoon, lad sakti hoon’ (I am a girl, I can fight). It has become the nature of Congress to insult women. No matter how many excuses she makes, the fact remains that the post was only deleted if we objected. Strict measures must be taken against this. We also request the Election Commission to take action against this,” Poonawalla said.
