On the occasion of Christmas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted an event at his residence in Delhi. Speaking to the Christian community, he said that Jesus Christ’s life is a message centred on love and compassion. He said Christ championed the idea of an open and just society in which everyone benefited, a principle that is guiding his government today.

On this day of celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, It’s also an opportunity to recall his life message and values. He embodied the principles of kindness and service…He clearly experienced what he had realised: that an inclusive society must have justice for all…These are now a guiding light in our country’s development journey, Modi said. The Upanishads, the fount of Hindu philosophy too like the Bible, also focus on realizing absolute truth.
Speaking to the residents here during an interaction on Christmas at his residence, PM Modi added, “A few years back, I had a chance meeting with His Holiness Pope. It was truly a historic moment for me. We covered issues of social unity and global brotherhood, climate change, and developing inclusive societies across borders.”
