April-20, Tamil Nadu BJP state unit chief K. Annamalai said on Friday that the names of many voters were missing from the voter rolls and called for fresh polls in some areas.
“We are asking for a re-vote in areas where a large number of voters’ names are not listed,” he said.
Mr. Annamalai also warned that the names of many Bharatiya Janata Party members may have been removed from the voter list due to political interference.
There were some discrepancies as the names of many people who came to vote from abroad were removed, members of the same family were separated into separate booths far apart, and 830 names were removed in one booth. The problem is common, but it occurred on a large scale in this investigation,” he added.
He further stated that although the Election Commission had carried out its duties freely and fairly, the names of 100,000 voters were missing from the list.
“What’s the point of voting after removing the names of 60 percent of the voters in the booth?” How can people gain faith in democracy? All these issues will be documented and submitted as complaints to the election authorities,” he said.
Voting for all 39 Lok Sabha seats was held on April 19th, and as per 8 p.m on friday 72.09 percent of votes were polled in Tamil Nadu.
